Cotton Prices Subdued in South India Amid Mounting Virus Cases

Mumbai (commodities control) - Cotton Prices were softened in South Indian markets amid rising cases of Corona virus.

Telangana and Andhra Pradesh reported arrivals of 1700 bales, while Karnataka registered arrivals of 1500 bales. 30-31 mm cotton in Adilabad and Guntur were quoted at Rs 34,500-36,500 and 29MM variety was priced at Rs 33,500-34,000/candy. 29 mm in Adoni and Bhainsa was quoted at Rs 33,000-33,500 and 29.5+MM was priced steady at Rs 33,500-34,000/candy. Meanwhile in Warangal, 29MM cotton was quoted at Rs 33,000-34,500 and 29.5- 30MM was priced at Rs 34,200-34,800/candy. 30 mm cotton in Karnataka was priced at Rs 34,800-35,200 and 29MM was quoted at Rs 34,500-34,800/candy. While DCH traded in the range of Rs 54,000-56,000/candy. Traders reveal textile mills are operating under reduced capacities, while many garments factories have shut. Trade has been severely impacted amid lack of labourers.
