Turmeric In Maharashtra Loses Colour As Sowing Begins

Mumbai (commodities control) Weak demand and commencement of sowing is weighing on turmeric prices in Maharashtra mandis.

In Sangli, the yellow spice was quoted at Rs 4500, while it was stable in Erode. However prices collapsed on futures platform NCDEX june contract of turmeric gave up Rs 68 or 1.27% to settle at Rs 5284/quintal. Sangli reported arrivals of 15,000 bags. Here Kadappa turmeric was quoted at Rs 4500-4550 and Rajpuri was priced at Rs 5200-5900/quintal. While in Erode, arrivals of 3400 bags was registered as finger variety was quoted at Rs 5800-6000/quintal.
