Mumbai (Commodities Control) - Even as a large number of the farmers across Madhya Pradesh are still waiting for their turn to sell wheat at the government authorized procurement centers, the Madhya Pradesh government's announced that they will procure wheat from the farmers only till May 31 as against June 15.

This has sent the thousands of state farmers in a tizzy they have been await their turn outside procurement centers. Many farmers, who have already registered themselves with the government agencies for the procurement of their wheat at the designated procurement centers, are yet to receive messages.

There are farmers who despite receiving messages for the procurement of their wheat are forced to wait outside procurement centers for days, due to shortage of labours and HDPE bags delaying the weighing process.

Reeling out his tales of woes, Krishna Yadav a farmer from nearby Sanwer tehsil said that he had registered himself for the sale of 500 quintals of wheat with the government agency long back, but is yet to receive message of procurement.

Another farmer, Nirbhai Patel of Nanod village who’s registered for the sale of 500 quintals of wheat, reeled out similar predicament. Even as Government has been talking about purchase of the wheat, he has not even received message for the procurement. The delay in procurement of his produce is making him nervous. The season of soybean sowing will start next month which, he fears, will leave him with very little time to prepare for the same.

State president of the Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Sena, Bablu Jadhav said the government had made a rule to purchase wheat from 15-20 small farmers and five big farmers everyday through message, but this rule appears to have been thrown into dustbin by the officials concerned. He said, alleging that even the farmers whose wheat has been procured by the government have not received payment for their produce for 15-20 days.
