U.S. Farmers Slash Planting Area In Pulses; Chickpeas' Area Planted Dips 32%

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Kabuli Chickpea, Field Pea and Masoor's seeding in United States will slip from last year as indicated in reports from farmers, according to the USDA.

Masoor acreage slips 2% from last year. Planted area for green masoor stands at 474,000 acres in 2020.

Kabuli Chickpeas planted area declines by 32% for an intended 306,000 acres. Small chickpea planting intentions, at 100,000 acres, are 5% below 2019. While large chickpea planting intentions, at 206,000 acres, are expected to decrease 41% from the previous year. Chickpea acreage will be at the lowest level since 2015.

A 12% fall in planted area is reported in case of Field Peas this year. Area in all classes would reach 971,000 acres.
