MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Small cardamom prices fell by Rs 125 per kg at major auction centres in Kerala on Friday amid tepid demand.

The quantity offered by the auctioneer - GreenHouse Cardamom Marketing - was 15.2 tonnes. Of this, 13 tonnes was sold. This realised an average price of Rs 3,435 per kg. Some selected lots quoted a higher price tag of Rs 3,763 per kg.

According to traders, both arrivals and demand have declined. Cardamom arrivals today halved as compared to yesterday.

Trading activity also remained limited due to shortage of cash in the market.

However, the cardamom March contract on MCX settled with 4 percent upper circuit at Rs 3,256/kg .
