Spot Mentha Edges Lower On Sluggish Demand

NEW DELHI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot mentha oil prices edged lower at key markets of Uttar Pradesh on Monday due to sluggish demand.

According to traders, prices may remain under pressure ahead on expectations of higher area under cultivation for crop year 2020-21.

At present, sowing of mint roots in nurseries is going on, and ideal time for the same is January 15 to February 15. Transplantation would start by February end.

Mentha oil prices in Chandausi, Sambhal and Rampur quoted at Rs 1,290/kg, Rs 1,310/kg and Rs 1,275/kg, respectively.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), mentha oil contract for delivery in February ended lower by Rs 5.70 or 0.48 percent at Rs 1,190 per kg.
