MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot jeera prices remained steady at the major Unjha and Rajkot markets in Gujarat on Friday after falling yesterday due to sluggish trade.

Actually, after yesterday's sharp fall, sellers in Rajkot were not ready to sell by dropping the price, while buyers stayed away from the market in anticipation of further fall in prices. Around 6,000 bags of spice arrived in the mandis today.

According to traders, sowing of jeera in Gujarat is lagging behind by around 30 percent this year. But the pace of sowing is likely to increase for the rest of the month.

Jeera for delivery in January at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), was trading higher by Rs 120 or 0.76 percent to Rs 15,900 per quintal after moving in the range of Rs 15,950 and Rs 15,770.
