MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Cotton prices tumbled by Rs 300 per candy at major markets in lower Rajasthan on Tuesday, tracking weakness in Punjab and Haryana and amid strong arrivals.
Arrivals today stood at 10,500 bales, up 2,500 bales from 8,000 bales on Monday.
The price of 28-29.5MM cotton in Marwar offered at Rs 36,800-38,100/candy. 27-28MM in Mewar also ruled at Rs 36,800-38,100/candy. While the price of 29-29.5MM in Alwar was at Rs 37,600-38,100/maund.
Kapas here traded at Rs 4,800-5,500 per quintal, while cotton seed quoted at Rs 2,700-2,800/quintal.
According to traders, the arrival is more, while there is no demand from other states. Local mills are also buying as per their requirement. Also, procurement from the CCI is said to be very slow.
