MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) - Spot cotton prices ruled mostly steady in Central and South India, barring Gujarat and Telangana on Wednesday amid limited trading activities.

Prices weakened by Rs 100-150 per candy in Gujarat, moving in tandem with a downtrend in global as well as in North Indian markets. Arrival of new crop in the state will be possible only around Diwali.

As per trade sources, there is no export demand at the moment.

The commodity also fell by up to Rs 300 per candy in Telangana.

Globally, cotton prices on the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) ended down on Tuesday amid lack of follow-through buying on views that the recent price rise assuming the US-China trade deal prospects were exaggerated.

The most active December cotton contract ended down 1.9 percent at 61.38 cents per lb.
