Cotton Mostly Steady In North Amid Sluggish Trade

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Cotton traded flat in North India spot markets on Thursday despite significant ovewrnight gains in the ICE cotton futures.

Prices were down by Rs. 15 per Maund at Rs. 4500 – 4530 per Maund in Punjab. While in Haryana and Rajasthan, prices were unchanged from the previous session.

Sellers are now trying to get rid of the old stock while there was limited buying in from the mills.

Globally, the most active December contract on ICE ended up 1.4% at 59.94 cents per lb on Wednesday. On MCX, Cotton for delivery in August was up by 0.14% at Rs. 21,170 per Bale of 170 kg each.
