MUMBAI(Commoditiescontrol) – Cotton prices rule steady in Central, Southern spot markets on light demand.

Prices were unchanged from previous session in the market. Trading was sluggish as mills have covered their near term requirement until new crop arrivals.

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, crop growth is seen at 9 inchs to 2.5 ft and 3 – 4 ft in early sown cotton in Khandesh belt. Arrivals are expected to begin from mid-September. Favorable weather might boost yields for the new crop.

Globally, the most active December Contract on ICE traded closed below the 60 cent mark,
down by 0.2% at 59.14 cents per lb.

On MCX, Cotton for delivery in August is trading higher by 0.05% at Rs. 21,060 per Bale of 170 kg each.
