Spot Pepper Moves Up On Supply Squeeze

MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – The spot pepper prices moved up on Friday on supply squeeze due to unfavourable weather conditions prevailing in the growing regions.

On the terminal market 10 tonnes of pepper arrived and of this 5 tonnes from the Coorg region were traded at Rs 325 a kg while balance 5 tonnes from the Idukki district went for Rs 340 a kg. Interstate dealers were the buyers.

Spot prices went up by Rs 100 a quintal to close at Rs 33,400 (ungarbled) and Rs 35,400 (garbled) a quintal.

Indian parity in the international markets stood at $5,200 a tonne c & f for Europe and $5,450 a tonne c & f for USA.
