Mumbai (Commoditiescontrol) – Domestic tur traded higher on Tuesday at major markets because of better millers trade activity for crushing and negligible domestic arrivals.

Moreover, demand and sales counters in Tur Dal remained limited from consumption centres.

Similarly, Tur lemon variety of Burma origin moved higher by Rs 50 at Rs 5,350/100Kg in Mumbai amid buying support from mills, following firm cues from domestic markets. While, the pulse remained unchanged at Rs 5,550/100kg in Delhi market.

Import of pulses will become costlier as Indian Rupee fell to its low of 71.40 Vs US Dollar on Tuesday.

In Burma, around 500 MT of Tur Lemon Old (2017- 2018) was traded at $640 per metric ton on FOB basis for India within fortnight shipment. As per local Burma based trader, pulses cargo will be loaded for India in direct vessel on 18th August for Nhava-Sheva/Chennai.

Mozambique/Malawi Tur red traded between $580-590 per metric ton on FOB basis and Mozambique Tur white in range of $620-625 per metric ton on FOB basis. Supply likley to come from August end-September 1st week.

However, import of tur is likely to fall short of the specified quota. The first tranche of import licences covering two lakh tonnes have been issued; but traders are unable to source all the quantity as important origins such as Myanmar have run out of stock.

According to traders, Myanmar may be able to supply a maximum of 1.5 lakh tonnes. African origin Tur will be available only after August; and therefore traders are wary of contracting with African suppliers because of the October 31 deadline.
