KOCHI (Commoditiescontrol) - The spot pepper declined further on Wednesday amid selling pressure.

Societies in Coorg are reportedly in a mood to liquidate and that in turn has aided the price fall further, trade sources said.

Meanwhile, added to this, Sri Lanka where harvesting is round the corner is said to have reduced their pepper price to $3,300 a tonne.

On the terminal market 14 tonnes of pepper arrived today. Of this 10 tonnes from the high ranges were traded at Rs 345 a kg while 4 tonnes from Pulpally and Bathery pepper were sold at Rs 330 a kg. Interstate dealers have bought it.

Spot prices fell further by Rs 100 a quintal to close at Rs 34,300 (ungarbled) and Rs 36,300 (garbled) a quintal.

Indian parity in the international market was at $5,450 a tonne c&f for Europe and $5,700 a tonne c&f for USA.
