MUMBAI (Commoditiescontrol) – Direct vessel carrying 600 container Urad (14,400 MT) has departed from Yangon for Chennai on 15th March, 2021.
As per Burma based local trader, second direct vessel expected to load 500-600 containers for Chennai on 25th March & third direct vessel expected between 15th - 20th April.
Trade activity is negligible as Martial law imposed on 14th March, 2021. Internet services also affected.
Meanwhile, Port activity and Government banking transaction is operating slowly.
Centre extends the last date for import of 1.5 Lakh MT of Urad for the fiscal year 2020-21, from 31st March, 2021 to 30th April.
The Central Government notifies annual quota for the fiscal year 2021-22 for import of 4 Lakh MT of Tur and 1.5 Lakh MT of Moong.
DGFT also notifies import of 2Lk T Pigeon Peas from Mozambique in 2021-22.
The Indian government announced quota of 4 Lakh tonnes for import of Urad for the period upto 31st March 2022.
The government has entered a five-year MoU with Myanmar for import of 2.5 lakh tonnes of urad.
