West and South Russia (Central Region, Black Soils region, Volga valley, 
Southern Russia) 
Highlights: Mostly dry or with only a few light showers in southern areas 
Monday. Temperatures above normal. 
 Days 1-3: Mostly dry or with only a few light showers in southern areas again 
Tuesday. Dry Wednesday. Temperatures above normal Tuesday, somewhat colder 
during Wednesday...mostly through eastern areas. 
 Days 4-5: Mostly dry during this period. Temperatures average near to above 
Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus 
Highlights: Mostly dry during the past 24 hours. Temperatures averaged above to 
near normal. 
 Days 1-3: Mostly dry during this period. Temperatures near to mostly above 
 Days 4-5: Dry or with only a few very light showers during this period. 
Temperatures near to mostly above normal. 
    Mostly favorable conditions for any remaining planting and pre winter 
development in the southern Plains. 
    Favorable conditions for filling and maturing wheat in central Argentina. 
    Colder temperatures through key winter wheat areas of Ukraine, west and 
south Russia during the past week will slow development of the crop. The region 
looks somewhat warmer during this week. Recent rainfall has helped recharge 
soil moisture in key growing areas, after late summer dryness concerns and 
    Mainly favorable conditions for planting winter wheat and development 
through western Europe at this time. Recent rains have slowed planting progress 
in the east while greatly improving soil moisture following drier and hotter 
late summer weather. Dryness and drought it of increasing concern in Spain and 
of some concern in Italy. However, Spain has had needed shower activity during 
the weekend and Italy should be rainy this week. 
    Drier, warm to hot weather may favor late filling winter wheat in Western 
Australia but this favors the maturing crop at this time. Recent rainfall and 
cooler temperatures will favor late filling wheat through southern New South 
Wales and Victoria. Drier weather remains a concern for immature wheat in South 
Australia. Recent drier weather has favored mature wheat and the harvest in 
northern NSW and southern Queensland. This area has had some rainfall during 
the past couple of days. 
   Mostly favorable moisture and temperatures for winter wheat planting and 
early development through the North China Plain.
