27 Jun 2017 5:05 am
West and South Russia (Central Region, Black Soils region, Volga valley,
Southern Russia)
Highlights: Light showers with locally heavier favoring north and central areas
Monday or Monday night. Temperatures averaged near to above normal.
Days 1-3: A few showers favoring east and south areas during Tuesday or
Wednesday. Temperatures average should be hotter today, cooler again during
Days 4-5: Mostly dry Thursday. Dry or with only a few light showers northwest
areas during Friday. Temperatures may be somewhat cooler Thursday, warmer again
Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus
Highlights: Dry or with only a few light showers during the past 24 hours.
Temperatures near to below normal northwest and above normal elsewhere in the
region yesterday.
Days 1-3: Scattered to widely scattered light showers with isolated heavier
during this period. Temperatures average near to above normal today, near
normal Wednesday.
Days 4-5: Scattered to widely scattered showers and somewhat cooler in the
west. Mainly dry and somewhat hotter in the east.
More rain would benefit heading spring wheat in the northern Plains.
Rainfall is expected to be limited during the next 7 days. However the lack of
any hot weather will limit crop stress.
Mostly favorable weather for maturing and harvesting wheat in the southern
Harvest disruptions at this time in the southeast Midwest.
Winter wheat in west and southeast Europe ranges from maturing to harvest
at this time and is reported to be in fair to good condition. Hot, dry weather
during this past week favors the mature crop and harvesting. Showers in
northeast Europe wheat areas will favor reproductive to filling winter wheat
and early planted spring wheat.
Winter wheat in Ukraine, west and south Russia ranges from reproductive
growth to filling at this time. Dryness is of increasing concern in
north-central Ukraine due to well below normal rainfall during the past 90
days. Winter wheat elsewhere in Ukraine as well as in west and south Russia is
in much better condition at this time.
Showers and warm temperatures favor emergence and early growth of spring
wheat from the Urals region eastward through northern Kazakh and southern
Siberia. However, recent hot temperatures begin to diminish soil moisture
somewhat through central and east areas.
Winter wheat in east-central China ranges from maturation to harvest at this
time. Recent rains may have been somewhat unfavorable for mature wheat and
wheat harvesting.
Wheat planting in Australia normally takes place during May and June.
Dryness has been of increasing concern recently. However showers late last week
in West Australia wheat areas and the promise of showers during this week in
northeast areas will help ease concerns...somewhat.
