West and South Russia (Central Region, Black Soils region, Volga valley, 
Southern Russia) 
Highlights: Dry conditions or just a little light snow. Temperatures variable. 
 Days 1-3: Light to moderate snow Tuesday. Dry conditions or just some 
lingering light snow Wednesday. Dry weather Thursday. Temperatures variable 
Tuesday, near to below normal Wednesday, below normal Thursday. 
 Days 4-5: Mostly dry. Temperatures near to below normal. 
Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus 
Highlights: Dry conditions or just a little light snow. Temperatures below 
 Days 1-3: Dry weather Tuesday.Some light snow in the north on Wednesday and 
some mixed precipitation Thursday. Temperatures near to below normal Tuesday, 
near to above normal Wednesday, above normal Thursday. 
 Days 4-5: Dry conditions or just some light snow in the north Friday. Some 
light to locally moderate snow in the north Saturday. Temperatures above 
    Mostly dry weather continues in the southern plains with no significant 
precipitation in sight. The crop is mostly dormant at this time. No damaging 
cold weather is indicated during the next 10 days. 
    Wintertime rain and snow will help recharge soil moisture through key 
winter wheat areas of Turkey, in areas where the ground is not yet frozen. Snow 
cover has been increasing due to added precipitation and colder temperatures. 
    Mostly favorable conditions, at this time for winter wheat in Ukraine and 
south Russia. Fall rainfall helped recharge soil moisture in key growing areas, 
after late summer dryness and heat. Wheat is likely dormant in most areas at 
this time. A deep snow cover is evident over portions of the area due to recent 
    Mainly favorable conditions for winter wheat through Europe at this time. 
However, reports suggest that crop may not be as winter hardy as it should be 
due to recent warmth. Winter time showers in Spain will help to replenish soil 
moisture for winter wheat, after early season dryness. Italy had heavy rains 
during the fall which should have ended any further concerns over dryness 
   No significant concerns for the harvest of winter wheat in Australia at this 
   Colder temperatures through the North China Plain is not a threat to dormant 
winter wheat. 
   Increasing rainfall through the drought areas of Morocco and western Algeria 
will help to ease stress to winter grains. A continued more favorable weather 
pattern for winter grains to the east, although colder weather will slow 
   Dry, warm weather in winter wheat areas of Pakistan and north India at this 
time. Wheat will rely more heavily on irrigation. However, more rain will be 
needed when the crop enters reproduction during the coming weeks to supplement
