3 Nov 2017 5:20 am
Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus
Highlights: Light to locally moderate rain, 0.12-0.51 inch (3-13 mm), occurred
through Belarus and northern Ukraine during the past 24 hours. Little elsewhere
in the region. Temperatures averaged near to below normal.
Days 1-3: Scattered light precipitation favoring western and northern areas
today or during Friday. Mainly dry Saturday. Temperatures vary somewhat during
this period, a few degrees either side of normal.
Days 4-5: Mostly dry during this period. Temperatures average near to above
Moderate to heavy rain over the weekend in Sao Paulo Brazil will benefit
developing cane following some very stressful hot, dry weather. More
significant rain is expected over the weekend into early next week.
Wet weather in key growing areas of southwest China may delay the early
harvest effort for sugarcane. However, enough dry and warm weather should
offset the impact from these rains.
Mostly favorable conditions for developing cane in northern India. Late
season rainfall through key growing areas of Maharashtra and in southern India
have improved prospects for these crop areas. The west-central area has
recently gone seasonally drier and warmer.
Seasonal to above average rains through the southeast Asia region will
favor sugarcane production but may delay the harvest.
Showers in southeast South Africa region will favor the rain-fed crop while
the rainfall helps improve irrigation elsewhere in the region. Hot temperatures
may, at times, increase stress to both irrigated and non-irrigated sugarcane.
