WORLD COFFEE PROSPECTS
Favorable harvest weather in Brazil. No significant cold weather threats
during the next 7-10 days.
Favorable conditions for the budding trees in Mexico and Central America.
The main crop is developing in Colombia. The midcrop harvest is ongoing.
Shower activity continues to diminish through coffee areas of southern
Indonesia at this time. This is a seasonal shift for the date. This favors
maturing coffee and harvesting.
Episodes of scattered showers and near to above normal temperatures will
favor coffee trees in the West Africa region at this time. Showers and less hot
weather favors flowering trees and early development of the main crop.
The east Africa coffee growing region has seen a decrease in shower
activity during the past few weeks. However, more recent weather has see an
increase in shower activity in the area.
Ivory Coast and Ghana
Highlights: Scattered light to moderate showers and thundershowers with locally
heavier during the weekend period. Temperatures average above to near normal.
Forecast:
Days 1-3: Episodes of scattered showers and more seasonal temperatures during
this period.
East Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania)
Highlights: Scattered to widely scattered light showers with locally heavier
favoring northern areas during this period. Temperatures near normal.
Forecast:
Days 1-3: Scattered showers tend to favor north and central areas during this
period. Seasonal temperatures.
