WORLD SOYBEAN PROSPECTS

Generally favorable conditions for developing soybeans in the Midwest. Soil
moisture will remain adequate to support the crop except in Missouri. Episodes
of scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue and no severe heat is
indicated as the ridging that has brought some hot weather to the region backs
off into the western US.
More rain would benefit developing corn and soybeans in the northern Plains
although with mostly adequate soil moisture crop stress is minimal. Rainfall is
expected to be limited during the next 7 days although with no severe heat crop
stress should be minor.
Stress to developing soybeans in the southern plains due to episodes of
hot/dry weather.
Episodes of scattered thundershowers during this past week will favor
soybean growth through northeast China, despite a warming trend. The region may
turn drier and somewhat hotter during this week. Minor growing areas on the
North China plain were fairly hot, mostly dry during the weekend but should see
some rainfall early this week.
Generous early season rain and thunderstorm activity in key growing areas
for soybeans in west-central India should planting and development of soybeans
at this time.
