WORLD CORN PROSPECTS
Generally favorable conditions for developing corn in the southern and
eastern Midwest with adequate moisture and no significant hot weather expected
during the next 7 days. Dryness and somewhat hotter temperatures through the
northwest and far west increase stress to this portion of the crop.
Dryness increases stress on developing corn in the northern Plains. A turn
to hot weather next week could stress any early pollinating corn.
Favorable weather for pollinating and filling corn in the Delta states.
Favorable weather for maturing and harvesting corn in central Brazil.
Harvest disruptions develop in central Argentina the next few days.
Cooler temperatures and increasing shower activity will help improve
conditions for development of corn through key growing areas of France and
north Italy. Showers in east-central and southeast Europe favor corn growth at
this time.
Hot temperatures have recently increased stress to corn in south Russia but
showers and cooler conditions have returned to the region. Dryness is still of
some concern for corn areas of central Ukraine.
A turn to hot, dry weather in northeast China will least a couple more
days. Showers and cooler conditions will help ease concerns at the end of this
week and during the weekend.
Central China growing areas continue to experience episodes of hot weather
but with periods of scattered showers as well. Stress to corn increases during
periods of hot weather.
