ISTANBUL--Turkey's unemployment rate rose to 13% in January from 12.7% in December, as a sign of the country's slowing economy.

The data came after the country Sunday approved constitutional amendments in a referendum that would expand President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's power.

The state statistics agency said Monday the labor participation rate was 51.5%, with 26.6 million people employed and 3.98 million people out of work.

The unemployment rate in January stood at its highest level since February 2010 and was up from 11.1% in the same month of 2016, the statistics agency said.
