Pakistan, North India and Bangladesh

southeast and east areas during the weekend period. A few light showers with
locally heavier in eastern Pakistan and the western portion of north India
during this time. Little between these two areas. Temperatures variable across
the region.

Days 1-3: Heavier rains may occur during this period from southern West Bengal
into Bangladesh and far east India, associated with the development of seasonal
rains. Elsewhere in the region fair skies with a few afternoon or evening
thundershowers possible in low coverage. Temperatures somewhat hotter central
and west, somewhat cooler east.
Days 4-5: Scattered showers and thundershowers favoring north-central and
eastern areas during this period. Isolated to widely scattered showers
otherwise. Tempertaures average near to below normal.
WORLD COTTON PROSPECTS
Favorable conditions for developing cotton in the Delta and Southeast US.
Cotton planting is ongoing in West Texas. More rain would benefit some
dryland fields.
No significant concerns for the early planting effort for cotton in India at
this time. Much of the crop is planted after seasonal rains develop but some is
planted ahead of the rainfall. Cotton in Pakistan is also planted beginning
during May. Increasing shower activity may mean increasing planting of cotton
in India at this time.
No significant concern for the final harvest effort of cotton in eastern
Australia at this time.
Drier and hotter in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (former Soviet Union) at
this time. Irrigation supplied by mountain snow during the winter and spring
rainfall will provide favorable conditions for planting and early development
of cotton.
Mostly favorable conditions for planting and early development of cotton in
west China. Recent rain will provided needed moisture in cotton areas of
eastern China. Drier weather at this time favors planting and early
development.
