developing cotton in West Texas at this time.
Favorable conditions for developing cotton in the Delta and Southeast US.
Heavy rains during this week will provide adequate to surplus moisture for
key growing areas of Gujarat, but flooding is likely occurring. Rainfall will
favor cotton areas of northwest India, north and east Maharashtra and the
northern Andhra Pradesh region but these areas could use more rain. Rainfall
has recently reached into key growing areas of Pakistan. This will help improve
soil moisture and irrigation supplies in the area.
Drier and hotter in Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (former Soviet Union) at
this time. The crop is reported in the flowering to development stages. This
crop relies on irrigation and benefits from warm to somewhat hot temperatures
and dry conditions.
Mostly favorable conditions for development of cotton in west China. Recent
rain will provided needed moisture in cotton areas of eastern China. This crop
will probably benefit from current hot temperatures, after prior rains.
Extreme heat in southern Turkey during recent weeks may have been
unfavorable for the flowering crop.
