11 Jun 2017 10:10 pm
North China (Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning)
Highlights: Dry or with only a few light showers favoring eastern and
southeastern areas during the weekend period. Temperatures near to above normal
west and north, near to below normal southeast.
Days 1-3: Mostly dry or with only a few light showers during this period.
Temperatures turn warmer during the period, possibly much warmer in the west
and north areas.
Days 4-6: Dry or with only a few light showers with isolated heavier during
this period. Temperatures average near to above normal.
Central China (North China Plain, Yangtze river valley)
Highlights: Moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms through south and
central areas mainly early in the weekend period. A few thunderstorms also over
northeast locations mainly late in the weekend period. Temperatures variable
during the period.
Days 1-3: Isolated to widely scattered thundershowers in northeast and
southwest areas Monday. Scattered thundershowers in southwest areas Tuesday.
Mainly dry Wednesday. Temperatures near to above normal early in the period,
above normal late in the period.
Days 4-5: A few showers, possible thundershowers, northeast locations and in
the southwest. Little elsewhere in the region. Temperatures average near to
above normal west, near to below normal east.
Warmer, drier weather in the Midwest improves conditions for developing
corn. Most planting is complete.
More rain is needed for developing corn in the northern Plains.
Favorable weather for developing and pollinating corn in the Delta states.
Favorable weather for maturing and harvesting corn in central Brazil.
Mostly favorable harvest weather in central Argentina.
A variable temperature pattern over the corn areas of Europe with periodic
scattered showers. Soil moisture is favorable in many areas. Dryness is of some
concern for corn in north Italy, little concerns for corn elsewhere in Europe
at this time.
Mostly adequate soil moisture for corn areas of southern and eastern
Ukraine and south Russia at this time...favoring emerging and developing corn.
Dryness remains of some concern in north-central Ukraine, despite rains earlier
in May.
Corn planting in China would typically begin during May and continue into
June. Weather patterns at this time favor planting and early growth of corn,
except in parts of the west where it is too dry.
Central China growing areas had some fairly hot conditions at the end of May
and very early in June. However, an active weather pattern has returned to the
region during the past week. This will improve conditions for early development
of corn in the area.
