Mexico/Central America Coffee Weather - Apr 17

17 Apr 2017 7:30 am
Tropical Weather Outlook: (Atlantic/East Pacific)
The 2016 tropical weather season has ended. The 2017 season will begin on
June 1, 2017.
Favorable conditions for developing coffee in Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais
The trees are blooming in Mexico and Central America. Conditions are
generally favorable.
The main crop is developing in Colombia. The mid crop harvest begins in
April. The coffee areas are located to the northwest of the area that has
experienced severe flooding.
Episodes of scattered rains continue through coffee areas of southern
Indonesia. This maintains favorable conditions for development of coffee but
may delay seasonal fieldwork.
West Africa coffee areas have had some scattered rainfall during April,
along with periods of hot and dry weather. Rainfall and less hot weather is
needed to support flowering and early development of the next crop.
The east Africa coffee growing region has seen and increase in shower
activity recently, especially through central and southern areas. This should
help ease stress on the trees at this time.
