India Basmati Rice Exports Rise 32% Last Quarter -- Market Talk

22 Sep 2017 9:01 am

0901 GMT - Exports of India's high-grade basmati rice have rebounded, recording a 32% jump in the last quarter, thanks to improved demand from Iran. The 25% increase was due to better price realization, while the rest was due to increase in volumes, said ratings agency ICRA. Demand from Iran, which accounts for 40% of the aromatic, long-grain basmati rice variety exports, has been fairly volatile, primarily on account of import bans from time to time.
