28 Feb 2018 6:35 am
FSU-Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Cotton Belt
Highlights: Light to moderate rain with some heavier favoring northwest and
central areas during the past 24 hours. Temperatures averaged above normal
Days 1-3: Mostly dry or with only a little light precipitation during this
period. Temperatures average above normal today and Wednesday. It should be
somewhat colder Thursday but still likely above normal.
Days 4-5: Scattered light showers during this period. Temperatures average
near to above normal during this period.
The harvest of cotton in Pakistan and northwest India is reported complete
at this time. Mostly favorable conditions for the harvest of cotton elsewhere
in India at this time.
Periodic showers and episodes of hot temperatures have occurred in key
growing areas of eastern Australia this summer season. This crop relies mostly
on irrigation and is not normally impacted by hot temperatures. However,
reports suggest that heat and extended dryness has been an issue for some
locations. A beneficial round of showers moves through the area during the
weekend. Another round of hot weather is expected this week.
