Winter grain areas of Ukraine, west and south Russia have turned colder
again during the weekend period. Snow cover is widespread and deep due to
recent snow storms. Moisture for this crop should be adequate to surplus when
this snow melts during the spring.
Winter grain areas of Europe have turned colder again during the weekend.
The crop has likely benefited from recent rain and warm temperatures. Winter
grains in Spain and Italy will benefit from above normal winter time
precipitation at this time, mostly rain in Spain and snow and rain in Italy.
Drier, warmer weather at this time will favor maturing sorghum and early
harvesting of sorghum in eastern Australia.
Mostly favorable conditions for the final harvest effort for the Kharif
Sorghum crop in India at this time. Weekend showers in key growing areas for
the Rabi crop in southern India may have come too late to significantly improve
Some beneficial rains for filling crops in Buenos Aires Argentina.
Rainfall was disappointing in the major growing areas of Cordoba and Santa Fe
where further losses are expected to filling crops, especially soybeans. Some
beneficial rains are possible in Cordoba and santa Fe later in the week.
Favorable weather for developing second crop corn in central Brazil.
Cool, unsettled weather will delay fieldwork throughout the Midwest. Wet
soils will slow fieldwork and early planting in the Delta states.
Filling maize will benefit from recent and forecasted showers in the south
Africa region. Rain may be somewhat unfavorable for maturing maize and could
delay the early harvest.
