heavier during Sunday. Temperatures average below normal Friday and Saturday,
near to below normal Sunday.
Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus
Highlights: Mostly dry or with only a few light showers during the past 24
hours. Temperatures averaged near to mostly above normal yesterday.
Days 1-3: Dry or with only a few light showers favoring western and
north-central Ukraine today. Scattered to widely scattered light and moderate
showers develop in the west and spread east tomorrow and Thursday. Temperatures
average above normal today and Wednesday, somewhat cooler Thursday.

Temperatures average near to above normal Friday, cooler in the west and
continued warm east during the weekend.
Winter grain in west and central Europe is reported to be in fair to good
condition at this time. Reports suggest that winter grain is in filling to
maturing growth stages in Europe. West Europe wheat areas are under a variable
temperature pattern at this time. Grain in east Europe is reported to be in
good to excellent condition at this time.
Recent rainfall through Ukraine will help maintain or improve prospects for
winter grain in reproductive to filling growth stages at this time. Warmer
weather will, at times, favor development. However, cooler conditions are
likely at times as well. Dryness remains of some concern in north-central
Conditions will mostly favor planting and early growth of spring grains
through Belarus and Ukraine at this time. Recent rains in south Russia will
provide favorable soil moisture for early needs of spring grains but may have
slowed field work. Concerns continue in north-central Ukraine due long term (90
days) below normal rainfall levels, despite recent showers in the area.
Soil moisture is reported to be in good supply at this time for reproductive
to filling winter grains in Turkey. Crop condition is improving due to
favorable weather recently.
Warmer weather and less rain in the Midwest improves conditions for
developing corn. Most planting is complete.
More rain is needed for developing corn in the northern Plains.
Favorable weather for developing and pollinating corn in the Delta states.
Favorable weather for maturing and harvesting corn in central Brazil.
Favorable harvest weather in central Argentina.
A variable temperature pattern over the corn areas of Europe with periodic
scattered showers. Soil moisture is favorable in many areas. No significant
concerns for the corn crop at this time.
Mostly adequate soil moisture for corn areas of southern and eastern
Ukraine and south Russia at this time...favoring emerging and developing corn.
Dryness remains of some concern in north-central Ukraine, despite rains earlier
in May.
Corn planting in China would typically begin during May. Key growing areas
of China's northeast have recently received beneficial rainfall. This included
previously dry western growing areas. However, more rain will be needed to
support favorable early development of corn. The region will see variable
temperatures with little rainfall during this week.
Central China growing areas have had some fairly hot conditions at the end
of May and very early in June. However, an active weather pattern has returned
to the region since late last week. This will improve conditions for early
development of corn in the area.
