WORLD GRAIN PROSPECTS
Winter grain in west and southeast Europe ranges from maturing to harvest
at this time and is reported to be in fair to good condition. Hot, dry weather
favors the mature crop and harvesting. Showers in northeast Europe wheat areas
will favor reproductive to filling winter grain and early planted spring grain.

Winter grain in Ukraine, west and south Russia ranges from reproductive
growth to filling at this time. Dryness is of increasing concern in
north-central Ukraine due to well below normal rainfall during the past 90
days. Winter grain elsewhere in Ukraine as well as in west and south Russia is
in much better condition at this time.
Showers and warm temperatures favor emergence and early growth of spring
grain from the Urals region eastward through northern Kazakh and southern
Siberia. However, recent hot temperatures begin to diminish soil moisture
somewhat through central and east areas.
Conditions will mostly favor planting and early growth of spring grains
through Belarus and Ukraine at this time. Recent rains in south Russia will
provide favorable soil moisture for early needs of spring grains but may have
slowed field work. Concerns continue in north-central Ukraine due long term (90
days) below normal rainfall levels, despite recent showers in the area.
Soil moisture is reported to be in good supply at this time for filling to
maturing winter grains in Turkey. Crop condition improved due to favorable
Spring rainfall.

WORLD CORN PROSPECTS

Generally favorable conditions for developing corn in the Midwest with
adequate moisture and no significant hot weather expected during the next 7
days.
More rain would benefit developing corn in the northern Plains. Some
beneficial rainfall is possible this week. The lack of any hot weather will
limit crop stress.
Favorable weather for pollinating and filling corn in the Delta states.
Favorable weather for maturing and harvesting corn in central Brazil.
Harvest disruptions develop in central Argentina the next few days.
Hot temperatures through corn areas of southwest and central France during
this past week will have increased the risk to this crop, especially any early
reproductive corn. Showers and cooler temperatures during the coming week will
be more favorable. A more favorable weather pattern for corn areas of eastern
Europe at this time. Dryness is of increasing concern for corn in north Italy
and of much concern in Spain.
Mostly adequate soil moisture for corn areas of southern and eastern
Ukraine and south Russia at this time...favoring emerging and developing corn.
Dryness is of increasing concern in north-central Ukraine. Showers have been
reported in the area but more rain is needed.
Weekend showers in key growing areas of northeast China will favor
development of recently planted corn but more rain is needed. The area looks to
be hot and dry early this week but may see increasing showers again late in the
week.
Central China growing areas continue to experience episodes of hot weather
but with periods of scattered showers as well.
