FRANKFURT--Eurozone banks eased their standards for housing loans at the end of last year as the region's economy accelerated, according to the European Central Bank's latest survey of the region's banking sector, published on Tuesday.

Loan conditions are expected to improve further this year, said the ECB, which acts as the primary supervisor of eurozone banks.

Demand for loans is being driven by the low general level of interest rates and favorable housing-market prospects, as well as consumer confidence, the ECB said.

The survey was conducted between Dec. 1, 2017 and Jan. 2, 2018, with 143 banks participating.
