WORLD OILSEED PROSPECTS

Warm and mostly dry weather will favor maturation and early harvesting of
canola in the Canadian Prairies region at this time.
Mostly favorable soil moisture for oil palm in Malaysia and Indonesia. The
main harvest season is approaching.
Increasing rainfall through west-central and south India during recent
weeks will mostly favor development of the Kharfif groundnut crop, except in
areas of local severe flooding.
Favorable conditions for irrigated groundnuts in central China with recent
beneficial rains. Prior hot temperatures may have increased stress to rain fed
crops at times, however it has turned cooler during the past week.
Mostly favorable conditions for maturation to harvest of sunflowers in
France, except during periods of wet weather. Summer dryness and episodes of
hot weather may impact sunflower yields in north Italy and portions of
southeast Europe. Rainfall will maintain favorable soil moisture for planting
winter rapeseed in Europe.
Hot August temperatures and reduced rainfall is likely to have impacted
yield prospects for sunflower in south and east Ukraine and south Russia.
However, cooler weather has recently returned to the area. Drier weather at
this time would favor the maturing crop and early harvesting.
