By Emmanuel Tumanjong

YAOUNDE, Cameroon--Cameroon's main gas and oil manager said Saturday the country produced a higher amount of gas in 2017 compared to the prior year.

Gas output for last year stood at 13.886 billion standard cubic feet (scf), down from 334.96 billion standard cubic feet produced in 2016, the SNH said.

Cameroon's gas industry is currently operated by two companies that exploit gas and condensate.

France's Perenco works in the Sanaga South offshore fields on the Atlantic coastal town of Kribi, while Victoria Oil and Gas (VOG.LN) operates through its local affiliate, Gaz du Cameroun, on onshore wells in the port city of Douala. The SNH manages and markets Cameroon's oil and gas for the government.
