YAOUNDE, Cameroon--Cameroon's crude oil production in 2017 rose compared with last year, the country's state-run National Hydrocarbons Corporation, or SNH, said Saturday.

Total oil production in 2017 stood at 27.73 million barrels, the company said in a statement signed by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, SNH's board chairman.

The country's crude oil output last year stood at 23.41 million barrels, down 16.4% from last year's production at the same time.

SNH, which manages and markets the country's oil and gas industry, said earlier this year that its investment budget on crude oil output was slashed from $311.72 million at the end of 2016 to $285.45 million for 2017.
