WORLD CORN PROSPECTS 
 
    Generally favorable conditions for the upcoming planting season in the 
Midwest although wet weather over southern and eastern areas may cause some 
planting delays. Generally favorable conditions in the northern Plains. 
    Corn planting is increasing in the Delta states. Planting progress is 
running ahead of normal. Some disruptions due to heavy rain can be expected. 
    Favorable conditions for developing second crop corn in central Brazil. 
    Drier weather favors maturing corn in central Argentina. Soil moisture is 
adequate for later filling crops. 
    Maize in South Africa should benefit from recent warm, dry weather. Maize 
is likely filling to maturing at this time. Showers may redevelop during this
