Base Metals Reverse Early Gains In Late Asia Trade -- Market Talk

14 Mar 2017 7:37 am

0737 GMT - Base metals pared back overnight gains in late Asia trade on Tuesday as the dollar strengthened. Copper mine supply disruptions in Chile, Indonesia and Peru had lifted the red metal's price the previous day, but concerns about an impending rate hike by the Federal Reserve later this week wiped out the gains. Three-month copper prices on the London Metal Exchange fell by $0.50 to $5,795.50 per ton. Nickel and aluminum also lost ground and fell respectively by $50 to $10,120/ton and by $13 to $1,868/ton.
