Base Metals Drop Amid Concerns on China Demand -- Market Talk

3 May 2017 4:01 am

0400 GMT - Base metals pull back in Asian trading Wednesday as negative sentiment about China's economic outlook continues. Early gains yesterday faded on a soft manufacturing-PMI reading. BMI Research thinks the government will have to pull back after front-loading its fiscal spending this year--meaning a gradual slowdown in industrial-metal demand. Three-month copper prices on the London Metal Exchange fall 0.7% to $5,761/ton while aluminum slips 0.3% to $1,923.50 and zinc sheds 1% to $2,623.50. (biman.mukherji@wsj.com)
