Australia Cotton Weather - Jan 29

Northern New South Wales and southern Queensland 
Highlights: A few showers and afternoon thundershowers mostly occurred in 
southeast areas of southern Queensland Friday. Dry or with only a few light 
showers in the northern areas Saturday. Mostly dry Sunday. Temperatures turned 
somewhat cooler during this period. 
 Days 1-3: Mostly dry Monday and Tuesday. Dry or with only isolated light 
showers Wednesday. Temperatures turn somewhat hotter during this period, 
especially later in the period. 
 Days 4-5: Dry or with only a few light showers in southern areas during this 
period. Temperatures average above normal. 
    No significant concerns for the harvest of cotton in Pakistan and northwest 
India at this time. Rainfall late in the Monsoon rainy season in Gujarat and 
Maharashtra favored development cotton. Rain in the cotton areas this week but 
much of the crop has already been harvested. 
    Winter and spring rain in east-central Australia improved soil moisture and 
irrigation for planting cotton and early development. Periodic showers and warm 
to hot temperatures at this time supports favorable development of this crop.
