corn and soybeans in the Midwest. There is no damaging cold weather indicated
during the next 10 days.
Generally favorable conditions for filling and maturing corn and soybeans
in the northern Plains. However, rain at the end of this week is expected to
cause some problem for mature crops.
Wet weather may slow the harvest of corn harvest in the Delta states during
this week.
Prospects for corn in southwest France continues to be good due to timely
rainfall in July and the lack of any persistent heat. Late summer hot weather
may have impacted corn in southeast Europe. Hot, dry summer weather has also
impacted corn in north Italy. Cool wet weather at this time may slow early
harvests.
Hot August temperatures in corn growing areas of Ukraine and south Russia
increased stress to late reproductive and filling corn. The most recent heat
wave has come to an end with a few scattered showers last week. This should
help ease stress to this crop. Yield prospected have declined due to hot,
August temperatures.
Recent cool temperatures and rain has favored corn in northeast China while
also slowing development.
