WORLD CORN PROSPECTS

Episodes of rain and cold temperatures in the Midwest will disrupt
fieldwork and corn planting.
Favorable weather for developing corn in the Delta states.
Favorable weather for developing second crop corn in central Brazil.
More favorable weather for maturing and harvesting corn in central
Argentina.
Maize areas of South Africa will be drier and warmer during this week,
favoring maturing crops and any early harvesting.
Favorable moisture for corn planting in northern Italy at this time.
Recent wet, cool conditions may have slowed the planting effort for corn in
southern France. Cool weather will also slow germination and early development.

Dry and very warm weather in corn areas of Ukraine and south Russia will
improve conditions for planting, following prior rains in the area.
Corn planting in China would typically begin during May. Soil moisture will
favor planting through southwest and central areas while in the north more rain
may be needed.
