WORLD CORN PROSPECTS

Generally favorable conditions for pollinating corn in the Midwest. Soil
moisture will remain adequate to support the crop except in Missouri. Episodes
of scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue and no severe heat is
indicated as the ridging that has brought some hot weather to the region backs
off into the western US.
More rain would benefit developing corn and soybeans in the northern Plains
although with mostly adequate soil moisture crop stress is minimal. Rainfall is
expected to be limited during the next 7 days although with no severe heat crop
stress should be minor.
Above normal temperatures and little rainfall in the southern plains during
the next 5 days will increase stress to pollinating corn.
The second crop corn harvest continues in Brazil.
Favorable harvest weather in central Argentina at this time. Harvest delays
develop during the next few days.
Episodes of scattered thundershowers will favor corn in northeast China.
Recent showers and cooler temperatures have helped ease stress to corn on the
North China Plain however this area is expected to be hot and dry for much of
the week.
Scattered showers and not as hot this week in southern Russia corn areas.
Crop prospects continue to decline due to prior heat and dryness. Rainfall has
recently increased in corn areas of Ukraine, in some cases stabilizing yield
forecasts.
Mostly favorable conditions for corn areas of France despite prior rain and
recent hot weather. Favorable conditions for corn areas of north Italy and
southeast Europe as well.
